HistoryTopline Paint is a South Australian family owned business that had its start in a small factory located at number 1 Tobruk Ave, St Marys in 1962.
Even back then Topline Paint worked to not just make paint but to solve customers’ problems. Most of our early products were made for specific customers’ requirements. Over the next 16 years Topline’s business grew and so did our need for space. We grew from 1 Tobruk Avenue to occupying all of 1 to 7 Tobruk Avenue and in 1978 a decision was made to construct a purpose-built factory at Lonsdale.
The new factory was opened in 1979 by the then Industrial Affairs Minister, Dean Brown. This new facilities at Lonsdale included a showroom, offices, production facilities, storage space, and a fully equipped laboratory for quality control and research and development of new products. The original Topline site at St Marys was maintained as a sales outlet for many years.
Topline’s product range continued to expand and evolve over the years and we manufactured a surprising range of products including gelcoats and detergents as well as our paint staples.
In 2007 Topline acquired Shipway Spescoat an Adelaide based speciality manufacturer of timber and marine coatings – including the well known Forminex brand, broadening our range of products and manufacturing experience even further.
Today, Topline is a specialty paint manufacturer with a significant manufacturing capability backed by ISO 9000 quality accreditation and years of experience. Topline produces a wide range of products under its own labels and also manufactures an extensive list of products under toll manufacture/private label arrangements.

Deep-treat reduces the excessive intake and release of moisture, therefore minimising warping and splitting of timber. 116 NYLOCOTE116 Nylocote is a two part, solvent thinned, cold cure, epoxy polyamide finish exhibiting outstanding adhesion to most material with excellent resistance against corrosive conditions such as atmospheric fumes or spillage and water immersion. Excellent for interior concrete floors where high durability and chemical resistance is required. 116 Nylocote is available in clear as well as a wide colour range. Suitable for driveways. Click here for product data >> SPESCOAT PAVE SEALWe get a large number of enquiries for a “sealer for concrete pavers” often around swimming pools. We simply do not recommend our Slate and Pave for this purpose as pavers are usually not laid over dampcoursing and water/efflourescence problems usually mean a short life for any coating on pavers. The use of any type of coating on pavers will also usually make them glossy and much more slippery. Spescoat Pave Seal overcomes this as it is a surface treatment rather than a coating and does not change the surface appearance in any way. It will help prevent staining from oils, greases, food, wine and such like making it perfect for pavers in entertaining areas. Whilst we cant guarantee that it will prevent staining in all cases on all substrates we can say that it will make clean up much easier and any residual stain left behind will me far less than it would be on an untreated paver. |
Traditionally, hard glossy surfaces such as baths, tiles and laminates are very difficult to paint. Firstly there is the adhesion problem and secondly there is the problem of finding a paint which is hard wearing and durable enough for high wear areas.
We have overcome the adhesion problem with the development of FORMINEX CERAMAGLASS. It is a unique adhesion promoting primer, which can be over coated with almost any paint system including two-pack urethanes and epoxies. FORMINEX CERAMAGLASS can be used on a wide range of surfaces including glass, ceramic tiles, porcelain, terrazzo, some plastics, laminates, and vitreous enamel.
Once FORMINEX CERAMAGLASS has been applied, the bath, tiles or laminate can be undercoated with Forminex Universal Undercoat and finished with FORMINEX SUPERGLOSS.
CERAMAGLASS is used on surfaces where paint adhesion would normally be a problem. Glass, glazed ceramic or porcelain tiles would normally require severe abrasion, or dangerous acid etching, in order to provide a suitable key for the appropriate painting system to follow. CERAMAGLASS is simply wiped onto the surface and allowed to dry for 1 hour. This saves expensive labour costs as well as eliminating the need to use strong acids for etching the surface. CERAMAGLASS can be overcoated with almost any paint system including two-pack urethanes and epoxies. CERAMAGLASS makes kitchen and bathroom make-overs simple.
FORMINEX UNIVERSAL UNDERCOAT is a high opacity two-pack urethane undercoat for use under FORMINEX SUPER GLOSS. Also acts as a barrier coat over other paints to ensure there is no adverse reaction when 2-PACK coatings are applied.
FORMINEX SUPERGLOSS is a specialist paint finish originally developed for industrial and marine use. Its chemical resistance, extreme hardness and outstanding durability make it ideal for high wear fixtures in the home such as tiles and laminates. It is suitable for permanent water immersion, and tolerates temperatures to 250ºC, which makes it ideal for painting bath-tubs and spas. Available in over 1000 colours.
